I captured this site in rural Nashville, IL back in 2020. The building in the middle ground served as the gathering space for Hahlen St. Peter's Lutheran Church many years ago.
One aspect I appreciate in particular about this photograph is the variety of textures in it: the roughness of the dry brush in the foreground, the smooth metal of the car, the paint peeling off the aged structure set against a cloudless sky.
This piece won Second Place (Photography Division) in the 2021 Illinois Art League Membership Show at the Time Gallery in East Peoria, IL.
