A place for culture to meet.

New Renaissance: Malta brought our wider purpose into a physical space: artists, work and people in direct conversation.

The intention

Give the relationship a place.

A work takes on another dimension when people can stand with it, ask questions and hear from the person who made it. The Tarxien showroom created a setting for that exchange, bringing several creative practices into one room.

For New Renaissance, this was a first physical expression of a broader ambition: to connect creative work with the attention, relationships and support that allow it to develop.

The opening presentation included Matthew Joseph Casha, Naomi Smith, Marina Po and Joe Taveras. Their work brought different materials and methods into proximity, giving guests several ways into the conversation.

14 August 2026

The first private salon.

The first salon welcomed guests into the showroom for opening remarks from founder and CEO Joe Taveras and Founding Strategic Partner Jess Mouawad, followed by encounters with the artists and their work.

The photographs document the character of the gathering: people listening, looking closely at materials and talking within the exhibition. ReTapestry No. 3 offered a particularly direct meeting of digital fabrication and physical making.

New Renaissance’s role was to bring the presentation and gathering together: a shared setting, a group of creative practices and an occasion to meet around them.

What this made tangible

Culture through participation.

The showroom gave the advisory a physical setting, the opening presentation gave visitors work to encounter, and the salon gave those encounters a shared occasion. Those are the concrete foundations of this project.

Our next initiatives can take different forms, depending on the people and place involved. The principle carries forward: begin with a clear cultural purpose, make room for the artist’s work, and give people a meaningful way to participate.
